Livery

Livery is the regulatory and industry term for for-hire passenger vehicle service that must be booked in advance and cannot be hailed on the street.

In many jurisdictions livery is a distinct licence class from taxi. The practical consequence is that livery vehicles may not pick up street hails, which is why pre-booking systems are central to how these companies operate.
