Farm-In

Also known as: farm in, affiliate work

Farm-in is work an operator accepts from another transportation company, fulfilling a trip that the other company booked with the end customer.

Farm-in work fills otherwise idle vehicle hours, but it usually pays less than direct retail work because the originating operator retains a margin, and the fulfilling operator does not own the customer relationship.
